The 2018 Llandudno MG Owners Club Snowdon Run took place on Sunday 19th August 2018.
John Woods Motorcare Ltd was one of the main sponsors of the event this year. John Woods Motorcare’s Staff and Family were all present at the start.
This year just over 200 cars took part in the event. With it being the 25th Anniversary of the Snowdon Run, special coloured Rallye Plaques, Printed Route Book Bags and limited edition boxes of Welsh Clotted Cream Fudge were comissioned by Llandudno MGOC.
The run started from the promenade in Llandudno with the Queens Hotel Llandudno once again kindly offereing concessionary room rates for entrants who wanted to stay over in Llandudno for the weekend. The hotel also made provision of the large ball room for the entrants to sign onto the run, have some tea/coffee/biscuits and see all of the raffle prizes that were on offer.
Three generations of the Woods family took over the flag waving at the start from the Mayor and Mayoress of Llandudno
John Woods himself completed the whole 100+ miles of this years 25th Anniversary run in his new MG ZS.
The run itself took entrants over the Great Orm, through some fantastic Welsh countryside up to the ‘Lunch Stop’ at Glan Y Gors Park (no photos sorry!). Once entrants had had a little rest and some refreshments on the lunch stop it was back onto the Welsh country lanes to the finishing point at Betws-y-Coed where the volunteer marshalls and members of Llandudno MGOC had set up various gazebos filled with raffle prizes. Happy Faces Charity also helped marshall and had a gazebo and raffle at the finish. Welsh Air Ambulance who were this years nominated Charity put up a display stand. A local Ukulele band were also present and kept everyone entertained at the finish.
Several entrants were also surprised when arriving to register their finish and receive their certificates… every 25th finisher was awarded a sash and sign and parked at the front of all of the other cars!
A fantastic day was had by all and initial feedback from entrants gave the opinion that this years run was one of the best routes they had done so far!
